Good afternoon Riley Families:
Following is information about our back to school plan and our registration process.
First of all, our plan at this time is to have full in-person instruction here at Riley. The basic plan was presented at the July Board meeting. We will start at our normal time and dismiss early between 2:15 and 2:30, staggering dismissal times to allow for bus loading and parent pick-up. We will offer a remote option for students that request that. The early dismissal allows for teachers to connect with students, and parents of students, opting for remote learning. As always, this plan could change if the Governor determines that we will move phases based on Covid-19 case count data.
Due to our construction in the building, we will be implementing online registration. We are asking that all families register their students by next Tuesday, August 4th. This will allow us to start our planning for assignment to homerooms and busing routes. If you are a new family to the district you must have filled out registration materials in the office in person before you can go online and confirm your registration.
All families will register through Teacherease. It will automatically prompt you to complete registration. Everyone will register as a returning student even those families that have recently transferred in or new kindergarteners once you have filled out the original paperwork here at Riley.
Registration will basically be a confirmation of the data we already have. You can edit personal information such as contact and phone numbers to ensure they are correct. You will also be answering specific questions to help us plan attendance and transportation. When you reply to the questions on whether your child will be here for in-person instruction or remote learning, be aware that if you select remote learning you are committed to that for the first quarter minimally. You will not be able to switch from remote learning to in-person instruction until the end of the first quarter. This would be too disruptive to the classroom setting.
A similar question will be asked for transportation. If you say you are driving your students you are committing to drive through the first quarter. So many of you were willing to help us out with transporting students, and bus riding should not be an issue. Thank you to all that will help in this manner. Some people were concerned that they could only drive a couple of days. If that is the case, please plan on putting your child on the bus instead. There should be room and that way we can insure they have appropriate seating. Routing will be determined by who is riding the bus on a daily basis. Please note that with so many parents driving, that will create some pickup and drop off issues. We have limited space here for that. We will give guidelines for procedures as we get closer to school. In the morning, students may not be dropped off before 7:50 A.M.
We will have step by step instructions for registration on our website. Please look in the News section in case you have any questions. You can pay your fees online. There is a charge for that, however. You still have the option to pay by check or cash. That can be sent in to the school now or at the start of school. If you can’t pay fees at this time, please complete registration so school planning can be started.
Thank you again for your patience as we tried to create the best plan for our community.
Next week I will post a video on the website detailing our plan in more depth for those that were not able to attend the Board meeting in July.
**At this time there will not be fall sports. Please do not pay any sport fees at this time.
